Here is some nice information from Boise Cascade regarding the placement of circular and rectangular holes on a typical wood I-Joist.

Hello Ryan, I have printed the drawings and put them in my misc note book and I don't do any residential. This kind of info can be helpful to all, especially when you least expect it.
