I would like to purchase a Digital Camera to hopefully post some pictures on ECN.
But, what sort of camera should I buy?,
would just a basic one do for the resolution required for the Forums?
As these cameras are very expensive over here, what should I do?.

I use a Vivitar 3615 with 2x digital zoom (that I never use), macro (which I use a lot!), and 2.1 mega pixel capability. At 800 x 600 (plenty big), it'll hold 64 pix on the internal memory, and flash cards are available, but I've yet to need one. Battery life is poor, so buy Nickle-Metal Hydrides and a charger (the 3615 comes with both!).

It was $179US plus 6% WV sales tax at WalMart.

I'm very pleased with it, and I'll never go back to film! Most of the fuzzy pix of mine are due to "pilot error", no fault of the camera.

Mine's about the same as 66's only it's a Fuji Finepix 1300.I bought it at Best Buy for around $200.I've had it for along time though,dont think they still make The 1300.

Mine's a Sony Mavica. I love it because it records to a 3.5" floppy or a memory stick, but the newer models can record to a 3" CD. It also has a screen so you can look at your shot right away to see it it came out OK, nice feature. Mine was about $800 a few years ago, I'm sure they are cheaper now.

Glad this was posted as I am looking for a camera also. Christams present though . Would appreciate any and all opinions. Actually I wish I had it the other checking a skid tank mounted diesel pump.Would have been a great picture to show how folks can screw up a wiring job on a simple piece of equipment. I still can't figure out why anyone would do what these guys did which was make the male end of a 120v plug hot

Ouch! How do you post pictures? If I have no clue should I even be asking? By that I mean is it difficult?

if you're in new zealand i would definitely get one with the option for an underwater housing, yehaw, i'd love to take a diving vacation there. the olympus D40 with the oly housing is 4 megapixels with lots of options and as close to professional as you'll care to be. check ebay to see what you should pay, about $450-550.US for the D40, and $300 for the underwater housing, a good deal for a housing. voltage compatibility and versatility for travel might be important too. i haven't used my pentax for 2 years. no film, no waiting, easy to use, delete, zoom and print, pocketsize. for cost savings though, you could probably pick up a good used 2 or 3 megapixel that would work good for less than professional uses. people are always upgrading and selling last years model cheap, sound familiar?
i have lots of pictures of installations not to code. its a really good tool to have in your van.
