I saw he local PoCo guys running a new service drop, and before installing their crimp-taps, they cleaned the wire with a semi-cylindrical abrasive type pad or wire brush that was about 6" long and almost encircled the conductor. It seems earier than a wire brush, or sand paper.
Anyone know what I'm talking about & where I can get some?

ILSCO makes a blue wire brush for aluminum which is very flexible and semicircle in shape. Sorry I don't know the product number. Check with a local ILSCO distributor.

redsy -- You may be referring to item 4108 is the WH Salisbury Rubber catalog. See page 124 in their 2002 pdf catalog. whsalisbury.com [~18MB]

Thanks, guys.
The Salisbury product looks like the one, except for the hot-stick attachment fitting.
I got on Ilscos on-line catalog, but couldn't find it. I will check with some local distributors.
