They are in length-wise stripes here, not around the circumference of the wire.
Ditto here on all modern cables. When the European green/yellow earth was first adopted here there were some which used a kind of spiral wrap of tracer color, but now they're all longitudinal.
I think the specs call for the proportions to be no greater than 70/30, although I've seen some cheap flexes and cables where it seems to be almost completely yellow with just a very thin green stripe.

On all of them though, yellow is now the predominant color.
