Hi guys anybody out there use software for designing installations? What is your verdict on its performance? Just read a bit of a write up in Electrical Times on Cablecalc it sounds pretty good for the price any users with info? I think its an Ausie company developing it Claymont Pty. Hopefuly might ring a bell with our down-under collegues. Presume that it is developed around BS 7671.

Amtech Cablemaster is fairly useful esp. the single cable program. UK Bs 7671.

Hi Derick, Welcome to ECN, good to hear that someone else uses software for design agree Amtech is pretty good, use single cable on a hand held myself. Useful for verification out on site, especially when the client decides to make unscheduled changes to installations mid flight. Thanks for the response.

Hi Aland, I have used PowerCalc I think it is the big brother to Cable Calc.

It is a good piece of software.

They have a range from Quickcable through to Powercad I think.

It is easy than some of the others I have used such as spearhead software.

Both Aussie firms.

Spearhead has a 15 day full working version you can download.

Hi Dapo, Thanks for the info, might just give it a whirl, the line drawings that this software produces look pretty good for industrial / commercial installations sort of simple thing that the client needs to have at hand over.
