Paul, Just an update to the 2-metre problem. I use a 25W linear Amplifier to give my Mobile a bit more power, I run that through a Band-Pass Filter and then to a 'scope' and then to my Aerial, a 5/8 wave co-linear vertical ground-plane, w/ Radials @ 90 degrees to the Vertical plane. The "scope" providing information as to the Modulation Percentage, 90-100% is common here, but I would never exceed that limit!, even with Single Sideband use.
