One of my customers has a meter socket adapter that goes between the meter and the socket. The adapter has an inlet and a switch to permit the connection of a generator to the premise wiring system without a back feed to the utility wiring. It is sealed in place by the utility. It was provided decades ago by an Onan generator dealer. Onan tech support reports that they have no knowledge of this item. Does anyone know were one could be obtained.

The question is not frivolous. I am a firefighter / rescuer. These would be very useful for the rapid resupply of power for life support medical equipment for patients in our service area.

There are two US suppliers of meter adapters that may have a device to do the job.
