Now you've got me wondering...I'm sure I've seen a house like that here in Reno!

Please note the absence of any over head wires to the house in question!!!!

If you look closely at the upper right corner, you can just see an arial pair heading toward the pole. I'd almost bet the city let a contract to put a streetlight every xxx feet and that's exactly what the contractor did.
