I got a healthy raise today , negotiated a few weeks ago,but,just before the bossman signed my check he informed me that along with the new position comes no OT.
Believe me I'm up for the challenge, but I don't know if I like Celery. What do y'all think?

One major consideration is your degree of leverage—what sort of current and foreseeable financial commitments do you have? And, do you need more time to spend with your wife and kids? What are these worth to you?

I've been on both sides of this fence. I think that hourly has worked out better for me.......I like getting paid for my overtime. Make sure that the fringes and the raise more than compensate for the loss of OT. Otherwise you really didn't get a raise.

The 2001 Florida Statutes
448.01 Ten hours of labor a legal day's work; extra pay.--
(1) Ten hours of labor shall be a legal day's work
2) Unless such written contract has been made, the person employed shall be entitled to extra pay for all work performed by the requirement of his or her employer in excess of 10 hours' labor daily.

There are federal laws that classify who is exempt from overtime payment. There may be state laws also.

If you have an accountant or lawyer who you can talk to they may find you are entitled to overtime pay. In which case, you can go to your boss and renegotiate.
