This service is on an old hotel in West Virginia.
Unfortunately, it is still in use.

Was this the old "tape 'em all white and let somebody else worry about it" trick?

Those look like some kind of strain reliefs used to attach the wires to the insulator rack (I wonder which one is the neutral?). Our community theatre electric service has something that looks exactly like this. What comes to my mind is how far this ancient service is from the windows or the fire escape. Those air conditioner condenser units perched carefully on the edge are a nice touch, too... Mike (mamills)

The light-colored aerial-cable covering could be "preformed" cable grips, like... Service-entrance sheetmetal wireway does make a mess during burndown, though. [This message has been edited by Bjarney (edited 07-09-2003).]

Lowest one should be the neutral, this old stuff is still around in a lot of areas, don't know if I can still dredge up a detail of it, but if I can I'll pass it along.

That weatherhead & raceway also is in dire need of replacement...
And what's with the wires draped over the white garage door frame?

...what's with the wires draped over the white garage door frame? Probably just telephone lines, or maybe just for the fire alarm system...no biggie.
