HCE,
I don't care where this panel has been set, the wiring looks old and decrepit.
That 4S box on it's side says it all.
How is anyone supposed to work on that safely?.
What's the bet a GC built that cupboard?.

I don't think I've ever seen such a complete circuit directory!

HCE: Do a couple of those 1900 boxes have porcelain bushings installed on them? That would really date this setup. Those wires look like a bunch of knob and tube circuits sleeved with loom.

The detailed circuit directory nomenclature is kinda interesting - "Mark's room...", "Vonnie's room...", "baseboard receptacle to left of dormer window..." etc.

Must be a pretty big old three story house. What were all the tags attached to the wires for?

If all the wiring in the house is as bad as this, it's time for a complete re-do.

The wiring looks like cloth covered NM to me.

The labels could be circuit labels on every cable.

Nice directory, definitely!

I like how they turned the deafront upside down, so that the panel door opens toward the back of the closet. Atleast you can have some accesibility. Nice! [Linked Image]
