This is just a picture of what I found on the wall in the boiler room of my Girlfriends apartment building ( not the same one posted in my mug shot in the "what do you look like" thread BTW [Linked Image].... The newer looking disconnect was for a now non existant 550V 3 phase electric water heating circuit, but that other mess you see on the wall is for a pair of 240V single phase sewage pumps located in a pit just below and to the left of what you see.... And YES, that hideous mess below the starters was done by plumbers, some years ago!

It looks to me like that large straight-blade plug on the wall has a really small cord going to it. Are there any plans to fix this mess? I wouldn't sleep too well knowing that this is connected to my plumbing.

Are those scorch marks on the left-hand side box?

That straight blade plug DOES have a small cord going to it... What I THINK was done is the plumbers added a second smaller "backup" pump to the system and they used 2 diffrent plug and receptacle configurations just to allow them to disconnect and remove BOTH the backup pump and its float switch, and not have them plugged back in the wrong way.... Also there are no plans on fixing the mess,
" everything works, not broken"... Won't be the first time both pumps have failed and the place has started to fill with sewage!
As for the marks on the leftmost switch... Those are just dirt or grease or some other unmentionable substance!

The scary thing is, this is 1 of 4 buildings on the property, ALL 4 are like this!!
