Just for anyone who's curious, in Britain the rule in our "code" is that voltage drop should not exceed 4% from the main service terminals to the farthest point of the circuit under full load.
Cable sizes are determined with this in mind, although for residential work its very unusual to have to increase size just for voltage drop considerations.
