That would be my guess, but there might be a downside to it I don't know about. The pump would already be bonded to Equipment ground through the grounding screw inside. Is another connection advantageous? I used to connect bond wire to the #12 insulated ground near the pump location. Suppose the connection was elsewhere, or if the Bond wire was connected directly to the panelboard? That would mean Parallel paths with different resistances. What about Lightning? Is it good to have a low resistance path back to the Buiilding?

Does anyone know if any of these are legitimate concerns?
