Since I see We are on a Pool type train of thought and it does somehow make me feel warmer Let me try a question of my own.

We know (right?) that the pool itself and associated equipment need to be bonded together but it is not required to be connected to the equipment grounding conductor of the service or circuit supplying power. My question(s) is which way is best and does that change depending on location? Inside, outside, or other factors.
In other words, if it was just as easy to do it either way, which would be preferrable?and why?

That's a good one...... Without getting all coded out, i'll just say that the people who trained me taught me to ground the h___ out of everything, bond it all together, etc.

That would be my guess, but there might be a downside to it I don't know about. The pump would already be bonded to Equipment ground through the grounding screw inside. Is another connection advantageous? I used to connect bond wire to the #12 insulated ground near the pump location. Suppose the connection was elsewhere, or if the Bond wire was connected directly to the panelboard? That would mean Parallel paths with different resistances. What about Lightning? Is it good to have a low resistance path back to the Buiilding?

Does anyone know if any of these are legitimate concerns?

Ok, i'm in section B of art 680, there are a lot of changes here.....I'm still trying to figure the part where it does'nt bond to the supply?? Why would that be ?

Ok, i think i see the difference....the panel serving the pool could be close to, or remote from it.

We are talking about a redundant bond, and a possible parrallel path created by it. This would be in addition to the equipment grounding conductor serving the pool circuitry.

Let me ask this, is there any condition in where the #8 pool bonding and the grounding eqiupment conductor of the branch(s) circuits serving the pool would NOT meet???

I can see where someone replaced a pump and did not connect the ground wire, or wire was loose, lost that little green screw, broke the Ground prong off etc. These things happen all the time to other types of equipment.

That would break the link between the 2 paths
