All I can say is that I am a computer novice- yet I've (so far) been able to avoid the major problems that have happened to others.
My "computer guru" has been Kim Komando, who hosts a syndicated radio computer-talk show. Her site has links to all sorts of freeware, including browsers, firewalls, anti-virus, and anti-spy ware. I reccomend it highly.
