Dave I been using a a HD outside christmas light timer that bought at home depot at least six years ago, I'd have to go thru the christmas stuff to find brand but it works pretty good, leave plugged in 24/7 comes on at dusk, for whatever amout of hours you put to dial at, I dont think it cost much over $10 has had heavy loads on it and been very reliable..have you tried radio shack? these things arnt all that specialized.
