I'm not happy about the events that have taken place lately, and I'm afraid that war is eminent.
I thought I might sit on the sidelines until more people replied to this thread, and then I could respond to the posts of others. If I waited, then, the membership of ECN wouldn't see how I really feel about this matter.
I am a veteran, but I didn't serve in combat. I was in the Navy in the mid 80's. We flew air cover for "reflagged" Kuwaiti tankers. So, I don't speak from the same perspective as gramps.
I'll just be "bone white honest". I'm behind our president, and I'm for our troops going over there and "kicking the crap out of Iraq". Saudi Arabia, you're next on the list.
We might as well get ready because we will lose some people before all this is over. The problem we have is, "do we stand back and let terrorists kill our people, or do we go over there and kill them first. I'm for the latter. I'm for killing the enemy because I have two girls in elementary school, that I want to have the same life that I've had. They won't have the life that I've had if they have to live in the fear of terrorism. I want to kill the enemy because they want to kill me. They want to kill me because of my "way of life", and "what I believe". I think that there is a fundamental difference in my motivation, and the enemy's. They hate us because of our way of life. What did we ever do to them?
Our way of life is superior to theirs. We have better medicine, technology, opportunities, etc, etc, etc. They hate us for it. Why? We have better living conditions, and more food, clothes, etc. They hate us for it. Why?
I can only offer one reason. They're evil. So, george, I disagree with you, and I won't apologize for it. We The United States are right this time. I couldn't take the stand that I'm taking, if I didn't know that I was on the right side.
