As frequent visitors will know, I’ve retired (for the most part) but maintain my licenses. I have just begun taking a 2023 NEC update course (I’m still in Article 100) smile

I find this particular code revision . . . Interesting. I note that it addresses several matters I’ve either dealt with, or discussed here before. There’s even a common practice of mine that, over the years, has caused a lot of controversy — and the 2023 code comes down squarely on my side. Even though I may have been “right,” I’m uneasy with some matters entering the code; IMO, the code is reaching beyond its’ proper role. (Example: listing of light fixtures).

Looks like i have a new code book to read. I wonder if inflation has hit the NFPA yet (Grrrr.)

I’ll post some more discussions in the near future. Some will bring up old topics we’ve discussed many times (upward-facing receptacles being one) that the new code has decided to “clarify.”

In addition to using new photos, I’ll dip into my files and dig out some oldies-but-goodies I’ve shared here over the years. (Anyone remember the residential service directly over a set of basement stairs?).
