First off, Donovon, welcome to ECN, mate!

I must say, in all my time here, I have never seen a connector like the one you've posted in your 3rd picture, were these actually made for that purpose?

I'm also a tad worried about that plug hanging in mid-air, especially when it looks like it's connected to that lighting circuit.
