I have used PK Tools myself, not too much experience with Winzip so no recommendations there. I'm not sure where it came from (possibly the PLUS PACK) but I've got a utility that's integrated into the right click menu (win 98) that lets you either extract from a zip file or select files and send them to a compressed folder. This is in Win 98 - I've had that for years (beta testing), I don't know if 95 had anything like that as I went from 3.11 to 98 I never had 95.
I don't know if any of this is any help or not, but you convinced me to add yet another category to this BB.
