Is that for real????? Or was that for a Monty Python or Bennie Hill Show?

I understand that the second (orange) placard was inspired by an actual Darwin Award recipient. Somebody actually Darwined himself rocking a machine trying to get a free Coke.

We have lawyers to thank for this sort of nonsense.

I think it's a PhotoShopped joke.

I'm not sure where it came from; just found it while browsing and saved it to my disk as it made me chuckle. [Linked Image]

"Bridge out" is a somewhat North American expression that you won't often hear in Britain, so I would guess this came from the U.S. or Canada. Either way, somebody has a pretty good handle on the way things are going, don't ya think?

Reminds me of the "warning" sign I saw in a lab once:

Quote
WARNING

DO NOT LOOK INTO LASER WITH REMAINING EYE

I saw this one posted by my old physics lab instructor back in college:

This kind of thing spreads though.. I once saw a TV with a stern warning not to use it in a swimming pool.... I assume they meant swimming pool area? or knowing the darwin candidates... maybe not!

Chipmunk,

They may very well mean the pool itself!

The following has become an ECN classic:

I can add a little history of Joe's floating bottle.
The homeowners used to float around in their pool on inner tubes. They also would put their television in another inner tube, and plug it into this bottle/plug. [Linked Image]
Darwinians for sure

That's as good as the new VCR I bought several years ago, that came complete with a VHS tape explaining how to hook up your new VCR! [Linked Image]

Actually the vending machine warning is real. There were 37 known deaths and 113 injuries at the time of this release http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PREREL/PRHTML96/96011.html by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The bridge sign is a joke or urban legend.

The impalement sign makes sense to me... I'd rather not be up on a building where there are spikes jutting upward even if they're there for protection from other dangerous events.
