Well, it had previously been a navy base. In other places I have found 1950s-era duct heaters wired with miles of green 10-AWG TW wire (PVC insulation.)

n1ist do you know about the wild "b" phaze in some locations or the grounded "b" phaze
the wild b, is about 196 volts to groung or to neutral and can do some serious damage to equiment that gets any 110 from the ground. and with the grounded b, the voltage to ground is 240. just something to think about.
I have seen many of chart recorders burned up on these systems.
