Thank you for the input and product information. I was hoping I wouldn't have to pay hundreds of dollars for it. The $100.00 range is probably what I will go with.
If you're just looking for an IR thermometer and not an IR camera, they're to be had fairly cheaply. (The one built into my multimeter works fine for what I need it for- it's calibrated perfectly against all the thermostants I've tried.) We have an extremely expensive IR camera somewhere around here too, but I've yet to see it and AFAIK it was never used. Shame, really.
