You might also want to check out the steel toe alternative, Kevlar. Some guys I know who do high voltage work don't care for steel toes but get along fine with the Kevlar substitute. A google search will yeild several outlets for Kevlar toe safety boots.

I had a pair of this boots that had a "steel" toe in them made from the same material "as the nose cone on the space shuttle"....

These were the MOST uncomfortable boots I have ever worn - thankfully, they were a "safety" award and I didn't actually buy them. :P
