I have an limited housewiring license in Maine and was wondering if there are other states that have this license.

Welcome, I am new too. In Ohio I have never heard of such a thing.

In Utah, we have residential journeymans, residential master, and a residental electrical contractors licenses. You must have, or employ someone with a residential masters license to get a residential contractors license.

In addition to the residential classifications, we have Apprentice electrician, Journeyman electrician and Master electrician licenses. You must have, or employ someone with a Master electricians license to have a General Electrical contractors license.

The Journeyman and Master electrican licenses require commercial and industrial experience as well as residential to qualify to take the exams.

CA has some various electrical related licences, and some that have incidental electrical allowances.

Outside of "Contracting Licenses" California also has a reletively new requirement for "Certifiction". (Froidian slip, but after realizing... Pun intended!) "Certification"... And that has a "residential" limited aspect to it...

The certification testing is on hold and has been since about mid December 2005. It was supposed to be back on line by mid Jan 06, but I just checked the DAS website and they still have not resolved the "issues".

Florida has licensing for Electrical Contractors and Specialty Electrical contractors (low voltage, alarm etc). The EC can do everything, the specialty can only work in his specialty. There is no state licensing for the workers, only the boss. Some cities and counties do license journeymen.
