Gentlemen,

Just remember if you tie your system into the grid,to have a transfer switch installed so you don't injury or kill a lineman working on the lines down the street.

The slip ring thing - no slip rings at all..... welding cable just runs down the pipe, comes out the bottom (manual shows direct wire burial, but I was going to use fittings, PVC underground, and possibly a hand hole for servicing. The manual said that the wires would twist until they could twist no more, then untwist. I think I'm in way over my head, but I won't give up. I'm frustrated, but when I'm an engineer, I'll be dealing with problems this difficult every day.

I suppose if your winds are very constant that might work but once it gets a few full rotations I can't imagine it ever working itself out. I would try to find a way to use slip rings of some sort.
