Mustang we run into this problem all the time. The main thing is the "Co-Op" doesn't have to make any profit on the loop install as their profit will come through the electric bill they send the customer every month. I work for the highway department here in Texas and sometimes the various "co-Ops" in our area can install the pole and meter loop cheaper than we can buy just the material. Also had the poco give a customer a price of $1300.00 to put in an underground service to a house 320 amps, 200 feet, installed in 2 1/2" pvc. The customer told me this price and asked what I would do it for and I didn't even have to run any figures. That's the way it goes.

yeah i was not aware that many power co do this but they have the right to..i guess it is a regional thing..i have seen the power co replace a meter base but not the customer equipment..

i dont get many calls where this is really a big deal but in a rural area or other situation it would probably fall under some sort of law that they are undercutting the market and therefore are a monopoly..

i aint no lawyer though
