Thanks for all the great replies. My $16,000 panel saw has an inverter that can be optimized for the lower voltage and that was my biggest concern. I guess it's just something I never came across in the other shops I worked in that had 3 phase power. As a finish carpenter, my experiences working with some local residential electrical contractors left me wanting to cast a wider "net" (no pun intended seriously...) for info before opening the checkbook. Great forum/resource. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to respond.

One way to sort out wye-versus-delta services is with a voltmeter.
