Just watched the news. Coldest weather in a couple of decades, most schools closed tomorrow, ice breakers in Boston Harbor today. BRRR!

Donnie,

Haven't heard from you in awhile!

The Cold is a good excuse for a warm Fire.

The coldest I've experienced was -43F.
The car wouldn't start and when I took my gloves off I remember watching the skin on the back of my hand crack, bleed and freeze.

Mostly with thoughts of attics in June, in the June, we think about these times. After a while, there's always someone hungry enough to take the outdoor work. Personally i'd rather have this extreme-there's only so much you can do in 98°, 95% humidity-at least you can add a layer in winter.

Dunkin' Donuts "big Joe" coffee, xtra cream and sugar.

thermals under the jeans - if really cold, silk ski long johns under the thermals.

2 pairs of socks, or one pair of my good ragg wool hunting socks.

wool navy watch cap under the hood of the thermal sweatshirt, worn under the Carharrt coat.

minimizing breaksin the (heated) basement, so I don't get "de-acclimatized" to it being REALLY FREAKIN' COLD!!!

Makes me glad I've been on layoff the past few weeks - been workin' inside instead of roughin' it while roughing in!

Thanks Ryan and Bill,
Been kinda busy lately.
I've experienced 20 below in a tent on the side of a mountain, camped at 9500 feet. Spent 5 days in that scenario. Brrrrrr!!! But, I was elk hunting in Colorado and it just seems different if you are out there by choice. [Linked Image]

Guys, I know we tease back and forth a bunch about our "weather worlds", but I really hope you stay healthy and safe.
That said:

It's mid-70°F all this week.
Ocean water temp is only about 58°F at the beach. Been some offshore winds.
My friend (our PM/Estimator/Surfer), Craig was worried about a hole he had in his wetsuit (for fear he'd get cold this Winter).
I think he's forgotten all about it, 'cause it's been 6'-8' a block from his house.

Really, I'd be the first in the "wuss club" when it came to the cold. I admire you for your fortitude, but why the heck do you live there?...S

Electure,

I've been meaning to ask you the same thing about Californians!

Between Eartquakes, Mudslides and widespread Fires I'm thinking maybe you people have been out in the Sun too long!
