What is EMT?

Sorry about this string of silly questions,
but what is EMT? as a wiring system.
Is it like Mineral Insulated Metal Sheathed cable?.

EMT is short for Electrical Metallic Tubing
The NEC definition is......

So EMT is a steel(metallic) conduit wiring system.
What sort of wire is normally pulled trough these conduits?.

I don't wan't to sound dis-respective or anything, but I don't know what you mean with respect to thhn and twhn wires.
We don't use these sorts of wire designations over here in NZ. [Linked Image]

Emt is used as a raceway, the same as Rigid and Intermediate conduit. The biggest differences are the EMT is to thin to be threaded and it is not as durable in corrosive areas. Emt is mainly used indoors, but is also used outdoors above grade.
