I’d like to revisit that perennial favorite topic of inspectors: Tightening connections to the proper torque. What I’d like to know is whether anyone has tried replacing the usual Allen key / socket / torque wrench with a cordless impact driver. How has it worked for you? Is there anything you do to verify the torque? Are torque-limiting extensions effective?
Impact drivers are far from precision instruments. If you notice, they check the torque with a torque wrench at a tire store after running lug nuts in with an impact wrench. OTOH I doubt most inspectors actually check the torque.
