$140+ for 250' of 12/2 Romex, heard from a few contractors this AM.

Situation with PVC conduit also.

And, lumber is crazy; one builder is $50K over budget for a SFD just lumber!!

I guess as inspectors we should be looking for guys who take shortcuts to save wire, like picking up loads on small appliance, bathroom or laundry circuits that are not supposed to be there. At over 50 cents a foot those things could add up fast. I bet you don't see as much in the trash.

It's like that anywhere, Doug,
Try and get 25NB, 32NB and 40NB steel pipe, they quote you a price per length, if you don't take it at the time, you lose the purchase.
China is still hungry for cable, steel pipe and other raw materials.
I went to the supply house last week, looking for 12 rolls of cable of different sizes, I got 5 rolls in 5 sizes and cleaned them out.
It's like I'd imagine living in Soviet Russia was like, I still have customers to please, but if I have no materials, what do I do?

An auction site I look at occasionally had some partial rolls of THHN mixed sizes and colors, looked like about 800-900 feet total. I got out of the bidding at $150 and was happy I got out bid. I am not sure what the final number was.
