Greg:

From memory, HPS had a lower 'running' current after warm up; MH was the opposite.

There are 360 watt MH lamps, which were supposed to retro the 400 fixtures for 'energy saving'. I do not know what this did/does to the operating load. Comparative math (seat of the pants style) 10% reduction in lamp wattage should equate to 10% on line side of ballast; 460 -46 = 414.

Time to do the upsell to T5 fluorescents, or better yet LED with 100k hr life. ROI is quick too.

I don't know how well LED grow lights work. I suppose it depends on the wave lengths of the energy plants absorb in the various magical processes that take place. LEDs tend to be monochromatic.

A EC mentioned at a recent seminar that he completed a medical grow building with LED fixtures. The fixtures were supplied by the grower.

I think the fixtures were within the spec/plans that were submitted to the State for review and the jumping through hoops for the legal growers and dispensaries.

The discussion I had with him was these LEDs were within the spectrum for grow lights. That is a little beyond my scope.

Sorry if I’m getting off the path of your original question.
