Hi Macwire,

I moved from San Jose, CA to CT just over a year ago, this followed my second dot-com layoff. After 6 months of not finding work in the IT field I decided to pick up a trade. So now I am an apprentice electrician with a small company (3 vans) non-union. I started at $15 an hour ( less then half of my old pay) but it took some adjusting to get used to this level of pay. Though I feel that with my tech skills and the eventual E-1 I will be able to carve out a nice niche for myself.
Anyway, from what I hear the job outlook in this part of the US is and always has been good. Plenty of rich New Yorkers wanting work done on there weekend homes.
