You jumped in while I was typing.

Years back I installed a propane 20KW resi whole house unit for one of my comm owners. He had no natural gas where he lived. A 750 gal propane tank was buried on his property.

That worked OK as needed, but this OP is talking something non-resi.

300 kw will require about 3 million BTUs to get it started, and a little more than that at full load. Diesel is the way to go if at all possible. I have run 20 kw units on 250 gallon tanks, but if it is real cold outside, and the tank is low in gas it will freeze if the load is heavy and sustained. We regularly install 60 kw units with the v-10 Ford engines and use 500 gallon tanks without any troubles, but these units are on cell phone equipment and the load in the winter is very light so usually no trouble with freezing.
