2011 NEC, with some amendments has been adopted as of 5/7/12.
Oddly, the DCA site has NO mention of the usual 'grace period'.
As of last week, I'm awaiting a response regarding the effective date.

I was at a code change class a few weeks ago and they told us this was just Gee whiz info since we would not see the 2011 until the 2014 was out. They would like to just skip to the 14 but the legislative process will not let them. They have to debate the new code until it is obsolete. Ain't government great

NJ political machine moves slowly...
We did CEUs on 2011 for lic. renewals since the '11 was in print. We use the '05 for rehab, the '08 for 'new work', now the '11; and soon enough the '14 for CEUs again.
I still have to digest the amendments, & get back to speed on the '11!

Our problem is the electrical code is adopted along with the ICC based Florida building code and that is 2 years behind NFPA so, by the time they have chewed on the ICC codes for most of a year and made it our own we are well into the next NEC cycle.
(the 2010 building code using the 2008 NEC was adopted just about the time the 2011 NEC was out)

Verbal from DCA that the 6 month 'grace period' is active, even though they did not write it within the respective adopted codes listing.
Historicly, an 'effective date' (or drop dead date) is listed with the adopted date indicating the grace period.

John, I am right here. We have been very busy at work and I just forget every now and then to sign on. As for the grace period. I thought that we are suppose to enforce the newest code, UNLESS the contractor states on his permit that he wants to use the last code. The grace period is only good for 6 months. Yes, you are 100% correct. '11 is in effect now UNLESS the job comes in marked "2008 NEC" until 11/07/2012.
I've been busy also.

Things seem to be turning around here. One of the big developers is starting 500 new houses this year.

To clear up a plumbing backlog of inspections Twp has a PT guy 3-6PM, and a FT multi-license (B/E/P).
Seems to be helping.
We have no space for any resi except a few SFD (customs); two new warehouse/comm @ 500+KSFt, & a lot of reno.
