got a service call about a trailer with no power to part of the bedroom.I know from past calls that the first place to look is outside in the water heater cabinet. After a quick check at the panel I knew that the neutral was lost in the circuit(reading 80 v at the rec.).I went outside and looked in the WH cabinet but no receptacle was their. After about 30 minutes of looking I finnally bit the bullet and went under the trailer and sure enough I found a receptacle located under the HWH cabinet. It was back stabbed and the connection was loose after replacing the receptacle and putting the wire under the screws all was fine.

I see similar instances in tract housing around here. For some reason, I have gotten to where I can almost pinpoint the location of the faulty back-stabbed device on the first go at it. I guess it is because they are almost all wired the same, so the points of failure are almost always in the same places.

my favorite is the DIYer who trys to replace a three way switch with a single pole switch they always end up putting a traveler under the ground screw.

We get homeowners here that want to use 2 3 way dimmer switches on the same circuit, and they wonder why the bulb is so dim. DIYers gotta love em.
