What a long way we've come in the last few years.
When I served my time as a Line Mechanic, we used to take 33kV (delta) from the Trans-Power Grid and that was stepped down to 11kV for local distribution (as in 400/230V).
These days we are taking off from Trans-Power at 66kV and having step-down voltages (all delta) of 33, 22 and 11kV.
We now have the problem that if there is a serious fault on one of our feeders, to actually sectionalise a certain part of our local network, will to a degree unbalance the Trans-Power feed, it means that there will be at any given time during a fault, at least 3 faults trucks going backwards and forwards to correctly re-energise the lines in a certain sequence.
It's annoying and it usually happens in the early hours of the morning, when all the dairy sheds start milking.
