I am looking for a timer-receptacle that when you press a button/turn on a switch will come on for say 1 hour and then go off.

My mom's getting a little forgetful and leaves the coffee pot on. I could probably make one but would rather find a commercial product that is UL listed, etc.

I've found many repeat cycle timers, but she doesn't always get up at the same time.

How about the twist knob timers? You 'could' mount one in a 2 x 4 box and put the box inline with the coffee pot.

I assume you've considered a coffee machine with a built-in timer. Mine turns off after an hour or so.

I agree with TWH. I see the Mr. Coffee I bought last fall price cut to $24.99 on the Target website. I set it to brew at 5AM and it shuts off 2 hours later if I forget to hit the off button before I leave for work.

Pros: Clock seems to be fairly accurate and the electronics haven't missed a beat. Intuitive controls.
Con: The carafe is one of those that tend to piddle coffee down the side if you aren't slow & easy on the pour.

Most all decent coffee makers turn off themselves. Mine can be set from 1 hour to 3 hours, and the warming plate has low, medium and high.

Use a coffee maker with a thermal insulated carafe. Thy shut off as soon as they finish brewing. I think I got my last one for under $40.

FWIW, I'd rather reheat cold coffee than drink what's been sitting on the keep-warm plate for 2 hours.
