I think they got sued and that is why they put the codes up. I know several years ago they told me it would never happen.

That's exactly what happened.

What I don't understand is why the NFPA has to make their codes and standards available for free but ICC, ANSI, ASTM, IEEE, UL, and many others don't. They all become legal documents when adopted as well...
