An IBM tech told me once upon a time that the reason their equipment worked on 415Hz was that it wasn't a harmonic of 60Hz, 50Hz, 25Hz, 40Hz or anything else. That way they could build 1 computer and sell it anywhere in the world without worrying about fancy filters in the power lines.
