as it shut down traffic on some major streets and a MUNI street car line.
I already thought with that fire hose running across the tracks in the picture operating the streetcar wouldn't really be a good idea [Linked Image]

the difference between making a mistake from being to comfortable and total incompetence in this case is simple.

A competent electrician would test his installation before turning on the power. This would have uncovered his "mistake from being too comfortable".

I can't chalk this one up to an "OOPS"

Texasranger, I think the fried equipment is probhably the start of the fire, but not the cause. The cause being "Cutting then marking" rather than "Marking then cutting".

Like I said, a dumb assed mistake that one usually only makes once.

"mark then cut" great phrase for us electricians out there e57! I would have to say though, to err is human and people can and do make mistakes, although the results from these mistakes in the elec. feild are no laughing matter, (most of the time).

Luketrician, I too have made the same mistake, (I can admid it) like I said, you only need to make it once... "Cutting then marking" rather than "Marking then cutting" is what I was told right after I did it. The lesson is LEARNED! Whats worse is I did mine with a 3 phase service, not only did I realize that my neutral was wrong FAST, I then had to check rotation all over the building....
