I just got a promo for this product this week. I was going to post it earlier but the site was down.
Fox Meter, Inc. announces the availability of the AS1000 Arc Smart arc fault circuit breaker field tester. This hand held device allows for convenient branch circuit testing of AFCI breakers. The unit works with all manufacturers' AFCI breakers on both 15 and 20 amp circuits. The AS1000 simulates parallel arcs with a pulsed, high speed, 75 amp resistive load. The unit also supplies simulated nuisance arcing to test for unwanted tripping, as well as a 5 amp ground arc test. Please visit our web site at www.arcfaulttester.com for additional information, or view/print the specifications at ]www.arcfaulttester.com/pdf/as1000.pdf
What's the advantage of doubling the frequency in testing? (120Hz)

Please be kinda elementary... Real fuzzy area for Virg here...

Well, testing an AFCI breaker or circuit for operation is fine, but I want something that's going to help me troubleshoot the circuit to find a parallel fault that's not obvious, not provide a second test fault.
