Bjarney said: "Is he standing on wood for safety?" The answer is probably yes. He probably started off reading those $12.00 DIY books, they tell you to stand on dry wood and wear rubber sled shoes for safety. For safety's sake though, I would substitute some rubber or non-conductive surface like rubber.(?)

Is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

Joe, After having watched the video footage a number of times, I can't help but think that that guy got off reasonably lightly. Any time that I have had any thing to do with an Arc Fault Explosion, the blast has been HUGE, even on LV (400/230V) stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make fun of a thing like this, it's just that Arc Faults usually mean lots of flying bits of Molten Copper here.

This is a nice video, but I also think it might be slightly misleading in that the actor's face looks normal as he's going backwards.
There was an arc flash incident about six months ago in the main electrical room of the building I'm familiar with. The neutral and one phase of the high line side were accidentaly reversed on the utility end. When the feed was switched back on, it popped.
Something like 30+% 3rd degree burns to the guy that pulled the switch, and a helicopter ride to a burn center. It didn't look at first like he'd make it. He'll survive, and keep both hands, but never look the same again, that's for sure.
No smilies on this one.

So where's the Arc Flash? All I see is some guy pouring coffee (maybe whiskey )into a drill and then pretending to get shocked. No Arc Flash, and no grounding path through him

Dear lord!! And to think this type of thing has actually happened in real life...no staging involved.
