"Keyless" for these lampholders means "sans pull-chain switch."
A "suicide adapter" refers to one with the plainly visible green-wire tail that could readily contact the adapter's male ungrounded blade and "heat up" an otherwise floating [but intended to be grounded] appliance case. Nowadays, the connection is a rigid-metal forked tab. IIRC, either type of adapter has never been permitted in Canada…id est, if you have a u-ground cord cap, it must be plugged only into a u-ground receptacle. {Corrections gladly accepted.}
