When I was in the Navy electronics training my instructor told us it really doesn't matter where the electrons or "holes" are flowing as long as you can figure out how to wire it up, how the parts affect the circuit and what it looks like on the scope when it is bad.
That advice served me well for over 40 years.
I don't care what that stuff is in the wire but I do have a pretty good idea how to keep it moving the right way.
