Reno (et al), what about an AC motor that uses an AC or DC field winding? If the field winding doesn't have any voltage then there are no lines of flux and the rotor is just a spinning mass of steel and copper? (My American Electrician's Handbook is packed in the storage unit...) I do agree on the megger. Get in the wrong place at the wrong time and the electricity could also kill you, right? In any case it wouldn't feel nice...
