Greg, unfortunately, per the pure wording of the conduit and tubing articles where it it states
:There shall not be more than the equivalent of four quarter bends (360 degrees total) between pull points, for example, conduit bodies and boxes.
the inspector is correct. You could use a condolet at the transition (if it stays accessible) and be compliant.
