The slip ring thing - no slip rings at all..... welding cable just runs down the pipe, comes out the bottom (manual shows direct wire burial, but I was going to use fittings, PVC underground, and possibly a hand hole for servicing. The manual said that the wires would twist until they could twist no more, then untwist. I think I'm in way over my head, but I won't give up. I'm frustrated, but when I'm an engineer, I'll be dealing with problems this difficult every day.
